Instagram testing 'Latest Post' feature for reverse chronological feed

Back in 2016, Instagram revamped its algorithm to show content based on who and what type of posts users interact with the most. The change was met with criticism, and the site announced the experimental "New Posts" button in early 2018 to appease users and let them take more control of their feed without missing a single post.
While there's no official word yet on when that feature is rolling out to users, reverse engineering expert Jane Manchun Wong revealed today an experiment being made by Instagram that indicates the tool may be coming in the near future.
The "Latest Posts" feature will give users a new way to view content on their feed in reverse chronological order. It shows up on the main feed as a pop-up and, when clicked, will bring users to a separate area where the latest photos and videos from people they follow will appear.
It's not clear for now when the "Latest Posts" tool will exactly hit a wide rollout. But it will be a welcome development for those who wish to see all the newest posts from their network once again, not based on what Instagram's algorithm thinks they'll likely want to see.
