Latest Beta Build Removes One-Handed Mode From OnePlus 7 Pro

OnePlus has started pushing out a new beta update for one of its 2019 flagships, the OnePlus 7 Pro. This update is marked as OxygenOS Open Beta 9, and it seems to be removing the one-handed mode option on the OnePlus 7 Pro.

This change is not listed in the changelog, but users have been reporting it on OnePlus Forums. Some of them even reported that they can no longer force dark mode for apps from the Developers Settings. The option pops up in search, but it's like it's missing when you tap on it. It is nowhere to be found on the list either.

OnePlus 7 Pro received one-handed mode in early January via beta build

Just to be clear, one-handed mode arrived to the OnePlus 7 Pro via Open Beta 8 update at the beginning of the year. It is not available in the stable channel.

OnePlus did promise that this feature will be coming to the OnePlus 7 Pro, though, at some point. It is quite odd that it got removed in Open Beta 9, though.

What's even weirder is that the first entry in the company's changelog says 'enhanced one-hand usage for dialer app'. That is quite confusing, perhaps the company re-arranged the UI a bit, or something, as one-handed mode is clearly not available. Or perhaps this is some sort of a bug, who knows.

The company also optimized network for a better gaming experience in this update. This update brings the Android security patch for January on the OnePlus 7 Pro, by the way.

Zen Mode got updated as well

As far as Zen Mode is concerned, this brings v1.5.0 of the app to the table. Zen Mode now supports OnePlus account login, synchronization of badges, and historical data.

OnePlus also fixed the weather app crashing issue in this build. On top of all that, the company improved overall stability and fixed a number of bugs here.

The OnePlus 7 Pro did not get a stable update for a while now. Updates for the device slowed down in general, quite a bit. The fact that the OnePlus 8 and 8 Pro are right around the corner could be one reason why. The company is probably quite busy developing those phones.

Another reason could be the Coronavirus. It has created a really tricky situation in China, and many companies are not even working. We're not sure if it affects OnePlus in any way, though, but it seems like the company's software team is hard at work.

The OnePlus 7 Pro is one of the company's 2019 flagships, and this beta update hopefully signalizes the arrival of a new stable build. Not that the OnePlus 7 Pro needs it, as it's quite stable, but users are awaiting new features that OnePlus promised, like that one-handed mode we've talked about.

We'll see when will the OnePlus 7 Pro get this update. In any case, the company is allegedly planning to announce the OnePlus 8 and 8 Pro in late March, early April, sooner than expected.
