Met Éireann says there will be spells of heavy rain with some localised thundery rain which will lead to some flooding

Yellow wind and rain warning ahead of Storm Dennis

Met Éireann has issued a Status Yellow rain and wind warning for the entire country ahead of Storm Dennis which is expected to bring wet and very windy weather over the weekend and into Monday.

The wind warning will be in place from 3am tomorrow until 8pm while the rain warning will be in place from 6am tomorrow until 9pm.

Winds of around 65km/h are forecast with gusts up to 100km/h. 

The gusts will be strongest in exposed areas such as coasts and hills.

Met Éireann also said there will be spells of heavy rain with some localised thundery rain, which will lead to some flooding. 

In the UK, the Met Office has also issued severe weather warnings ahead of the arrival of Storm Dennis, covering Northern Ireland, England, Wales and large parts of Scotland tomorrow, and the entire UK on Sunday.

Disruption to transport is expected as heavy rain and strong winds are set to batter the UK for a second consecutive weekend.
