Dimitar Berbatov has advised Jadon Sancho to join a club that will continue to give him regular game-time as the in-demand teenager continues to be linked with a summer move.

The England international is expected to leave Borussia Dortmund at the end of the season and is understood to be attracting the interest of several of Europe's top clubs.

Sancho has flourished since making the move to Germany from Manchester City and reports have indicated that the Bundesliga club will demand as much as £120million to allow him to leave.

And despite admitting his surprise that he would leave Dortmund, Berbatov stressed the importance that the 19-year-old moves somewhere he will continue to get opportunities.

"I think he [Sancho] is really developing well in Germany and he is still very young," Berbatov told Betfair . "The progress he has made over there has been unbelievable and hopefully he has his reasons for deciding to leave.

"His agent, family and people around him can give him advice but where he goes now is anyone's guess.

"For me, he needs to play, he needs to continue his development and that's why I'm surprised he wants to go because Dortmund gave him that opportunity as a player.

"He is still far away from a complete player, he is so young, so wherever he goes I hope he gets minutes so that he can play and continue his development and show how good he is."

Sancho has enjoyed yet another impressive campaign for Dortmund which has seen him score 12 goals and provide 14 assists in the Bundesliga for Lucien Favre's side.

A host of Premier League clubs including Manchester United, Chelsea and Liverpool have been heavily linked with a sensational summer move.

Real Madrid are also claimed to have shown interest, but it has been suggested that Sancho would prefer to return to England.

Although former Red Devils forward Berbatov said he would like to see him move to Old Trafford, he questioned where he would fit into Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side.

"Is Ole Gunnar Solskjaer going to sign him for Manchester United? Why not?" added Berbatov. "Coming from my time there, I would like to see him go to Old Trafford.

"Of course, it will make them more powerful, it will give them more speed than what they already have, but the question is where will he play?

"United have [Daniel] James, [Anthony] Martial, [Marcus] Rashford and [Mason] Greenwood, it is going to be a good fight for competition with all those young players there, which is a good thing.

"But overall, I would like to see him go somewhere and get minutes, not go straight to the bench and play from time to time.

"His signature is going to be very sought after and there is already talk about Liverpool and Chelsea also being interested.

"Teams want to invest in talented young players, but if teams go out to sign him at any cost, then he is going to have a big expectation on him, and he needs to play regularly to develop.

"He may decide to stay abroad and got to a different club like PSG, Bayern Munich or Barcelona. There will be many clubs after him and it is down to him where he goes."
