Mindanao cop shot dead in Malate resto

A Mindanao-based Philippine National Police (PNP) member was shot dead by riding-in- tandem suspects in a restaurant in Malate, Manila the other night.

PSSg  Roel Orihuela of No. 118 P. Zapanta St., Singalong, Malate, Manila, died instantly due to bullet wounds in various parts of the body.

A probe by PSMS  Bernardo Cayabyab of the Manila Police District-homicide section said the incident took place at 8:45 p.m. inside the Arjurie Restaurant located at No. 2547 Arellano Avenue corner Don Pedro St. in Malate.

The victim was reportedly watching television when the two male suspects arrived and shot him repeatedly.

The suspects then hurriedly got out and boarded a lone motorcycle and then sped off toward an unknown direction.

The victim’s brother Ariel rushed him to the Ospital ng Maynila where he was declared dead on arrival.

It was learned that the victim had just arrived in the city to work on his reassignment to Manila.

Probers are still establishing the motive and identities of the suspects.
