Job Sikhala acquitted of treason charges
by Mandla NdlovuMasvingo High Court Judge Justice Garainesu Mawadze has ruled that that Zengeza West MP Job Sikhala is not guilty and acquitted him of charges of plotting to topple President Emmerson Mnangagwa.
In the ruling Mawadze described as bizzare claims by State prosecutor Tawanda Zvakare that Sikhala wanted to stage a coup in Zimbabwe to overthrow President Emmerson Mnangagwa.
Earlier during the day police used water canons to disperse people gathered outside the court awaiting handing down of judgment.
Justice Mawadze had to adjourn proceedings at as tear smoke fired by police filled the courtroom.
