Ganja farmer jailed
by Simbarashe SitholeA 35-YEAR-OLD Bindura cannabis farmer was slapped with a 3 year jail term yesterday by a Bindura magistrate.
Member Kanyandure of Nyamakuwa village ,Bindura will however spend 2 years in jail after the magistrate Ruramai Chitumbura suspended one year on condition of good behaviour.
Prosecutor Nicholas Danga told the court that on February 7 the convict was arrested following a tip off and 300 grams of dagga were found in his bedroom hut.
The police took Kanyandure to his garden where they saw his mother Tracy Simbi (55) busy uprooting the dagga in a bid to destroy evidence.
She had uprooted 17 plants and the total plants were 25.
Both the mother and son were arrested and taken to Chiwaridzo police station.
