One-way traffic schemes, lane closures set this Valentine's weekend
EDSA Balintawak, Skyway-Alabang area to have lane closures and one-way traffic schemes
by AutoIndustriya.comHeading out this weekend for Valentine's? Better plan out your routes as there will be several lane closures and new traffic schemes that will be implemented along EDSA Balintawak and in Skyway-Alabang area starting tonight.
Beginning 11:00 PM of February 14, one lane will be closed along EDSA Balintawak Northbound towards North Luzon Expressway (NLEX). This is to give way to the construction of a vertical bridge support under the EDSA Bridge as part of the ongoing Skyway Stage 3 project. Light vehicles heading towards NLEX and Monumento can take Balintawak Interchange ramp going to Cubao and then take the U-turn slot after Cloverleaf Market going to NLEX.
Meanwhile, two lanes will be closed along EDSA Balintawak going to Cubao on February 16 as an interconnecting platform tower will be erected on top of EDSA Bridge. Light vehicles coming from Monumento via EDSA before reaching Balintawak can turn right to A. de Jesus Street, then left to C3.
The two lane closures will last until March 5, 2020.
Aside from those, girders will also be put up along A. Bonifacio Avenue where one lane going to NLEX will remain passable. Meanwhile, two lanes heading towards Manila will remain open to motorists from 11PM until 5AM on February 22 to February 29.
Motorists are advised to take the following alternate routes:
1.Light vehicles going to NLEX and Monumento may take the Balintawak Interchange ramp going to Cubao and take the U-turn slot after Cloverleaf Market going to NLEX.
2.Light vehicles going to Novaliches and NLEX may take zipper lane at the left immediately before the construction site towards destination.
3.Light vehicles from NLEX (going to Manila/Caloocan) may take the Balintawak Interchange Ramp going to Monumento via EDSA then left to A. De Jesus St. then left to C3 to destination.
The construction will last for 21 days or until March 5, 2020.
Over in Alabang, a one-way traffic scheme will be implemented from Alabang Hills to Alabang Zapote Road for southbound vehicles along the West Service Road of the South Luzon Expressway (SLEX). This is to give way for the construction of the Skyway Extension from Hillsborough to Filinvest Exit. In addition to that, the Skyway-Hillsborough off-ramp will be closed to traffic.
A one-way traffic scheme will also be set up on the northbound lane of the Alabang temporary steel ramp from 5AM to 9AM, daily. The same traffic scheme will also be used along Skyway from Sucat Interchange to Alabang Zapote Road and on the southbound lane of the Alabang temporary steel ramp daily from 9AM to 5AM the following day.
Affected motorists are advised to taket the Alabang viaduct at grade level. Construction along the SLEX and Skyway will last for three months.
