Three 5G Switches on in These 66 Places at the End of February

by

We were promised that 2020 would be the year of 5G in the UK, and – somewhat surprisingly – the mobile networks are really delivering on that promise.

Three is now almost ready to flip the switch on 66 new 5G locations in the UK, after already launching its 5G home broadband product in London last summer. The new locations – a good mix of big and small – will get 5G at the end of this month.

In the meantime, there's been some drama, with the network already claiming its 5G was the best to the dismay of a mobile analytics firm and getting itself tied up in a fight with EE over the claim "If it's not Three, it's not real 5G."

The good news for Three customers is that you can upgrade to 5G for no extra cost – but you will of course need a 5G-capable phone, and there aren't too many of those out in the wild yet.

Bizarrely, Three has chosen a Valentine's Day augmented reality fashion show to kick off the launch, according to Pocket Lint:

A digitally-enhanced version of model Adwoa Aboah will strut her stuff down the catwalk at Central Saint Martins, while those with 5G handsets in the audience can view the augmented reality event.

It's part of London Fashion Week, but still... why?!

Anyway, let's get to what you're here for: that list of 66 places getting Three 5G at the end of this month:
