Guns Akimbo
Guns Akimbo release date: 5 March 2020
Starring: Daniel Radcliffe, Natasha Liu Bordizzo and Samara Weaving
It's time for Daniel Radcliffe's bi-annual weird film stint, this time in the form of a guy who ends up getting a pair of guns bolted to his hands. The former Harry Potter actor has to rely on his newly-acquired gladiator skills to save his ex from kidnappers from the dark web. It looks futuristic and and a treat for gamers, and just generally a bit insane (in a good way).
Onward
Onward release date: 6 March 2020
Starring: Tom Holland, Chris Pratt, Octavia Spencer, Julia Louis-Dreyfus
The latest Pixar hit has poached two big Marvel stars; Chris Pratt and Tom Holland. Onward follows two teen elf brothers who go on a quest to discover if there's any magic left in the world. It'll probably do a classic Pixar-move and be 50% light-hearted fun, and 50% hitting you right in the feels.
A Quiet Place Part 2
A Quiet Place Part 2 release date: 20 March 2020
Starring: Emily Blunt, Millicent Simmonds, Noah Jupe
The Abbot Family may have survived the horrors of the last film, but that was just the beginning. Now they must navigate the outside world, and fight against the creatures that lie beyond the sand path. Prepare for a few hours of minimal dialogue, but maximum suspense.
Mulan
Mulan release date: 27 March 2020
Starring: Liu Yifei, Donnie Yen, Jason Scott Lee
Though it's the latest in the long list of Disney live action remakes, Mulan may end up being the most different to the original cartoon. There will be NO singing (moment of silence for 'Let's get down to business') and no Mushu - so this is going to be more of a dramatic interpretation of a Disney classic. Colour us intrigued.
No Time to Die
No Time to Die release date: 3 April 2020
Starring: Daniel Craig, Christoph Waltz, Léa Seydoux, Ralph Fiennes, Rami Malek
We've all been waiting for Bond 25 since Spectre, which was a whopping five years ago. Bond has left the service and has retired to Jamaica, but is dragged back into action when an old friend shows up asking for help. Craig's films tend to go up and down, but as this is his last film we're hoping that it will finish his run on a high.
The New Mutants
The New Mutants release date: 3 April 2020 (US), 10 April 2020 (UK)
Starring: Maisie Williams, Anya Taylor-Joy, Charlie Heaton, Blu Hunt, Henry Zaga
The very first trailer for this X-Men spinoff was all the way back in 2017, so it's a wonder at all that New Mutants is actually a thing in the first place. There's not a lot of information on the plot so far, but we do know that this horror flick will feature key characters from the comics, including the shapeshifter Wolfsbane, the sorcerer Magik, the air-propelling Cannonball, the illusionist Mirage and the elemental powered Sunspot.
Black Widow
Black Widow release date: 1 May 2020
Starring: Scarlett Johansson, Rachel Weisz, Florence Pugh, David Harbour
Black Widow is the first standalone film for avenger Natasha Romonov. Set between Captain America: Civil War and Avengers: Infinity War, Black Widow is on the run for not obeying the Sokovia Accords and assisting Steve Rogers, whilst dealing with a ghost from her past - Alexei Shostakov/Red Guardian (played by David Harbour).
Legally Blonde 3
Legally Blonde 3 release date: 8 May 2020
Elle Woods (Reese Witherspoon) was an icon of noughties cinema, and 15 years later the pink-loving lawyer is back for a third outing. We'll be getting the original screenwriters, as well as some familiar faces from the first two films - including Alanna Ubach as Serena and Jessica Cauffiel as Margot. We're just waiting on a trailer now, your honour.

F9 release date: 22 May 2020
Starring: Vin Diesel, John Cena, Michelle Rodriguez, Tyrese Gibson
Nothing can see to stop the Fast & Furious saga, with the ninth film following up from 2017's The Fate of the Furious. This title will introduce Dominic Toretto's younger brother Jakob (John Cena), an assassin who has been hired by an old foe - Cipher. Dwayne Johnson will unfortunately not be appearing in this film due to scheduling conflicts.
Wonder Woman 1984
Wonder Woman 1984 release date: 5 June 2020
Starring: Gal Gadot, Chris Pine, Kristen Wiig, Pedro Pascal
Wonder Woman shook up the DC Universe when it first came out, so it's safe to say that everyone is quaking at the thought of Patty Jenkins's follow up film. We don't know all the details yet - but Kristen Wiig will be playing the film's baddie Cheetah, Pedro Pascal is a nefarious '80s capitalist type, and Chris Pine is back in the picture...somehow.
Soul
Soul release date: 19 June 2020
Starring: Jamie Foxx, Tina Fey, Questlove, Phylicia Rashad, Daveed Diggs
This one is giving us big Inside Out vibes, and it's no wonder considering that it's from the same director. Music teacher Joe Gardener dreams of being on the stage, but just as his dreams are coming true, his soul is separated from his body. There, he works with other souls to train them up in order to return to Earth. It's a bit bonkers, but looks like it could be a tearjerker.
Top Gun: Maverick
Top Gun: Maverick release date: 26 June 2020 (US), 17 July 2020 (UK)
Starring: Tom Cruise, Miles Teller
Tom Cruise is back in one of his biggest roles ever as he returns to the cockpit that made him a star. He'll be playing with the boys once again in Top Gun: Maverick, as he switches roles and becomes an instructor. Complicating matters is that one of his students is none other than the son of the late Goose - played here by the always brilliant Miles Teller. Trailers so far suggest the aerial stunts will be jawdropping, but can the film recapture the rest of that '80s magic?
Morbius
Morbius release date: Summer 2020
Starring: Jared Leto, Matt Smith, Adria Arjona
Jared Leto has traded DC for Marvel - playing the role of the antihero Morbius, who has vampire bat-like powers (oh the irony). This film is only in association with Marvel, so it's similar to Tom Hardy's Venom. However, whether or not this film ties into Spider-Man's story is up in the air (what with the whole Disney-Sony drama), as Michael Keaton appears at the end of the trailer. However, we aren't sure if he's playing the Vulture. Only time will tell.
Ghostbusters: Afterlife
Ghostbusters: Afterlife release date: 10 July 2020
Starring: Paul Rudd, Finn Wolfhard
Paul Feig's female-led reboot may have flopped pretty hard, but Sony isn't giving up the ghost just yet. It's recruited writer/director Jason Reitman - son of the original creator Ivan Reitman, and acclaimed filmmaker in his own right - to reboot the reboot and instead make a sequel with a new cast, new threat, and a few familiar faces making cameo appearances.
Tenet
Tenet release date: 17 July 2020
Starring: John David Washington, Robert Pattinson, Elizabeth Debicki
Christopher Nolan has yet another action biopic ready to go - but this one features influences of thriller and sci-fi. John David Washington’s (currently unnamed) character has been tasked with preventing World War Three through the art of time travel. We imagine that this may be a bit of a mind-bender, something very on point for a Nolan film.
Bill & Ted Face The Music
Bill & Ted Face The Music release date: 21 August 2020
Starring: Keanu Reeves, Alex Winter, Samara Weaving, Jillian Bell
2020 is now the year of Keanu Reeves - because not only will he be in Cyberpunk 2077 and filming for Matrix 4, but he'll be returning to 'party on duuuuudes' with Alex Winter. Bill S. Preston, Esq. and Ted “Theodore” Logan are all grown-up, but they must return to their musical roots when someone from the future tasks them with writing a song to save the world. We think it's going to be ex-ce-llent.
The French Dispatch
The French Dispatch release date: 28 August 2020
Starring: Benicio del Toro, Adrien Brody, Tilda Swinton
Wes Anderson is back with another comedy-cum-drama epic. The French Dispatch is set in a fictional French city in the 20th century, following three separate storylines. Inspired by the director's love of The New Yorker, it will act as a love letter to journalists who work at an American outpost. There's also appearances from the likes of Bill Murray and Owen Wilson.
The King's Man
The King's Man release date: 18 September 2020
Starring: Ralph Fiennes, Gemma Arterton, Rhys Ifans
The King's Man is actually the third film in the Kingsman series, but this time it's an origin story about how the spies came to be - which means a brand new star-studded cast, lead by Raph Fiennes. This British action flick was meant to hit cinemas in February but has now been pushed back.
The Eternals
The Eternals release date: 6 November 2020
Starring: Angelina Jolie, Richard Madden, Kumail Nanjiani
Now that we're in phase four of the MCU, it's time to introduce a brand new ensemble cast to this ever-expanding superhero universe. This story will allegedly span 7,000 years, following a group of immortal aliens who protect humanity from the evil deviants. We don't know much more beyond that, but we'll be keeping a close eye on updates.
Godzilla vs. Kong
Godzilla vs. Kong release date: 20 November 2020
Starring: Millie Bobby Brown, Julian Dennison, Alexander Skarsgård, Kyle Chandler
Let's be honest here - the plot is kind of secondary to what people really want to see, which is a massive lizard battling an evenly gigantic gorilla. But so far we know that the film will touch on humanity attempting to wipe out both the creatures, and perhaps even feature cameos from other monsters in previous films, like King Ghidorah, the three-headed dragon from King of Monsters.
The Batman
The Batman release date: 25 June 2021
Starring: Robert Pattinson, Zoë Kravitz, Paul Dano, Andy Serkis, Colin Farrell
This may be a while off yet, but since we have a first look at the new Batman, we couldn't not include it. Taking place in the DCEU, this will be a reboot of the Batman franchise following Ben Affleck stepping down from the role. It will follow a younger Batman who isn't yet an experienced superhero, and include numerous familiar DC icons such as Catwoman, Riddler and Penguin.
