USING the social media to malign another person could really send you to jail.

This was proven in the case of a 32-year-old businesswoman from Maramag, Bukidnon who was arrested for cyber libel on Thursday.

Police Regional Office 10 director, Brigadier General Rolando B. Anduyan said that Mafe Aleria, a resident of Purok 2, Colambugon, Maramag municipality was arrested on the strength of a warrant of arrest for violation of Republic Act 10175 or the Anti-Cybercrime Law issued by Judge Dennis Alcantara of the Cagayan de Oro City Regional Trial Court Branch 18.

Anduyan said that members of the Maramag Municipal Police Station headed by Lieutenant Colonel Casan Ali arrested the woman in her residence and brought her to the local police station for documentation.

The Cagayan de Oro City court recommended a P48,000 bail for the temporary liberty of the accused.
