Police seized "a number of drugs"

A Perth drug dealer was rumbled after a wallet, containing hundreds of pounds worth of cocaine, along with his driving licence, were found on a city street.

It was handed in to police and they subsequently obtained a search warrant for 37-year-old Allan Waugh’s flat in Mathieson Court, Water Vennel.

Depute fiscal Bill Kermode said police subsequently seized “a number of drugs,” along with five mobile phones, containing drug-related texts, seven sets of scales, a “tick list” and £135 in cash.

The drugs haul led to the accused being jailed for 12 months at Perth Sheriff Court this week after he admitted being concerned in the supply of cocaine at his home between November 18, 2018, and April 5, 2019.

He also pled guilty to being in possession of amphetamine, cannabis and trifluoromethylphenylpiperazine, a class C substance, at the flat, all while he was subject to a November 30, 2018, bail order from the Perth court.

Waugh was said to have been in “significant debt” and he agreed to hold onto the drugs for an unnamed third party.

He was fearful if he did not agree, his ex-partner, who was undergoing chemotherapy, and his daughter would “suffer.”

The court was told that a total of 36.5 grammes of cocaine was found.

That included the 11 snap bags containing the class A drug from his wallet, found by a member of the public in the Croft Bank area of the city.

It had a value of between £1400 and £2800.

Solicitor Pauline Cullerton claimed the accused had not made any financial gain from his drug dealing but he admitted being involved in the supply chain.

“Having had time to reflect on his behaviour, he feels ashamed regarding the distress he’s caused to those who care about him.”

Sheriff William Wood ordered forfeiture of the drugs paraphernalia.
