Engineered Garments Workaday Revitalizes Vintage Americana for SS20
Steeped in rich indigo dyes and creamy ivory palettes.
by Charlie ZhangShortly after unveiling its collaboration with Barbour, Engineered Garments is already back with a concise SS20 lineup, this time under its diffusion line Workaday. The label has presented an assemblage of warm-weather garments that puts a refined spin on vintage Americana and workwear staples through its distinctive Nepenthes lens.
Featured is a span of chore coats, denim trousers, elongated trench coats, chambray button-ups, shoulder bags, paisley bandanas, plaid shirts and patchwork bucket hats colored in rich indigo dyes and creamy ivory palettes. One noteworthy piece is a long trench coat that’s detailed with thin, light mint pinstripes over a creamy ecru base. It comes with silver-toned buttons and wide collars, while deep pockets at the chest and waist round up the jacket’s details.
Another highlight is a pullover shirt embellished with bold pink and blue vertical stripes. The piece sees crisp white buttons along the central three-quarter-length upper closure, complemented by a pentagonal finishing at the base. A semi-boxy fit, loose sleeve cuffs and twin chest pockets finish off the garment’s design. Other pieces like the floral-print button-up, color-blocked oxford, raw denim pants, striped tie and khaki bucket hat complete the concise assemblage.
