The This Morning host posted the news on Instagram along with a number of sweet photos of Maria, who was laid to rest on Thursday.
Alison, 45, also dedicated Valentine’s Day to her beloved mum as she opened up about her family tragedy to her 479,000 followers.
She said: “Today I dedicate Valentine’s Day to my beautiful, wonderful Mother Maria who passed away from liver and lung cancer.

“Yesterday my family and I celebrated her amazing life and laid her to rest in a beautiful ceremony she would have been proud of.”
Alison had not been vocal about her mum’s condition but among the photos she posted was one of her mum in a hospital bed.

Other photos include several throwback photos of Maria through the years, along with a few snaps of the proud TV presenter and her mum.
“Thank you mummy for giving me the strength to move forward in the knowledge that you’re ok and with God in Heaven now,” Alison continued.

“I love you mum.”
