Officers from the Dundalk Roads Policing Unit stopped a motorist on the M1 last night when the car passed the patrol car with no lights on.
It turns out the driver had a provisional license but was unaccompanied, and had no āLā plates displayed.
Gardai said the vehicle seized and prosecution to follow.
