Unmukt Chand dismissal vs Brett Lee: Watch KKR’s fast bowler castles DD’s opening batsman with a jaffa
by Utkarsh BhatlaUnmukt Chand dismissal vs Brett Lee: The Daredevils’ opening batsman had no answer whatsoever to the legendary fast bowler.
During the first match of the sixth season of the Indian Premier League between Kolkata Knight Riders and Delhi Daredevils in Kolkata, Delhi Daredevils opening batsman Unmukt Chand was found wanting against Kolkata Knight Riders fast bowler Brett Lee.
After the then KKR captain Gautam Gambhir won the toss and chose to field, the visitors sent in Chand and David Warner to open the batting against the likes of Lee, former South Africa all-rounder Jacques Kallis and former India pacer Laxmipathy Balaji.
Chand, who was facing the first delivery, faced an absolute jaffa from Lee which he had no answer to. Undone by the outright pace, a clueless Chand lost his off-stump as he had to walk back to the pavilion without getting off the mark.
Barring captain Mahela Jaywardena scoring 66 (52) with the help of eight fours and a six after coming in to bat at No. 3, no other Daredevils batsman contributed significantly as they were bundled out for 128 in 20 overs.
With bowling figures of 4-0-13-4, KKR spinner Sunil Narine was the pick of their bowlers. Apart from Narine, medium-pacer Rajat Bhatia and Lee dismissed two batsmen each.
Chasing a 129-run target, the home team sealed the chase in the penultimate over. Gambhir, who opened the batting alongside wicket-keeper batsman Manvinder Bisla (4), top-scored with 41 (29) with the help of five fours and a six.
In the nine matches that Chand played in IPL 2013, he scored 158 runs at a paltry average and strike rate of 17.55 and 100 respectively.
