Coleen Rooney hits back at Rebekah Vardy after tearful Loose Women appearance

Coleen Rooney has hit back at Rebekah Vardy after the WAG made an emotional appearance on Loose Women to discuss the infamous WAGatha Christie scandal.

Becky, 37, joined the Loose Women panel on Thursday to talk about the trolling she had faced as a result of Coleen, 33, accusing her of leaking fake stories about her to the press.

Although Rebekah said she couldn’t talk too much about the details, telling the panel ‘It’s really hard because we are in the middle of a legal battle and I can’t really say too much at the minute’, she teared up as she shared that she had been hospitalised on three occasions due to panic attacks.

Following the TV appearance, Coleen issued a statement via her rep to announce she would not be pursuing any similar interviews.

The statement read: ‘Coleen has nothing to add to what she has already said.

‘She remains confident in the legal process and sees no reason to take the numerous opportunities that have been offered to engage in further public debate in this matter.’

On Loose Women, Rebekah – who recently welcomed her fifth child, Olivia – got emotional as she discussed the effect that the online abuse she received over the scandal had on her.

The former I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! campmate, who is married to Jamie Vardy, said: ‘It was really really hard. It is probably up there with one of the worst things that I have had to deal with apart from being abused when I was younger.’

Explaining how she found out about the bombshell statement Coleen had put out, she said: ‘We were just about to meet to go for dinner with some friends and we were just in a taxi, my manager messaged me and said you need to see this. I looked at my phone and there it was in all its glory. It was hideous and it was horrible and I don’t think I was prepared for what was to come.

‘The trolling was the worst part for me. I have been trolled before and I do get it all the time, but it escalated off the back of this.’

Rebekah continued: ‘I think people don’t realise when they are saying stuff like that.

‘I ended up with severe anxiety attacks. I ended up in hospital three times. I ended up with kidney stones. I felt like I couldn’t go out with people just looking at me just questioning.. whether.. did she do it? Did she not do it?

‘No one would ever say anything to your face they never do, do they. They aren’t brave enough to say things to your face.’

Back in October 2019, Coleen – who is married to Wayne Rooney – alleged that she set up a ruse to catch out a friend, who she believed was selling stories from her personal Instagram account to the press.

In a now infamous statement, the mum-of-four claimed ‘It’s……….. Rebekah Vardy’s account’ that was responsible – something Vardy has repeatedly denied.

Rebekah previously said she would be getting a forensic investigation on her account to prove she was innocent.
