Meath badminton teams qualify

Meath teams were in action at the Leinster Badminton inter-county competition commenced last Sunday for Grade 3 and Grade 5.
Meath had two teams playing in each of these two grades.
GRADE 3

The 3A team was playing in Kildalkey where they defeated Dublin 5 – 2 and followed up with a 6 – 1 victory over Wicklow.
Team - Peter Russell, Kyle Dunphy, Gerard Morgan, Joe Knox, Siobhan Jones-Evans, Laura Sherman, Niamh Kieran, Deirdre Murray and Linda Byrne.
The 3B team travelled to Carlow where they had a 4-3 victory over Dublin, and then lost 3-4 to Offaly leaving them runners-up in the group.
Team - Peter Carolan, Darryl Claire, Ross Kavanagh, Tom Somers, Elaine Doherty, Susan Murphy, Niamh Kelly-White, Fiona Carty, Maria McCoy.
Both teams now qualify for the semi-finals in Baldoyle on Sunday 29th March.
GRADE 5
Two teams had to travel to Roundwood and Carlow respectively.
Both teams faced stiff competition – the 5A team was in action against Westmeath, Wicklow and Dublin while 5B played Carlow and Laois, neither team qualified.
Team 5A - Heong Neh, Eoin Reilly, Dan Prunty, Oisin Reynolds, Anita Janosi, Rachel McEntee, Lorraine Fay, Marie Boyle.
Team 5B - Karl Somers, Thomas Eivers, Ivan McConkey, Bryan Patterson, Jill Olwill, Shantini Chandra, Joyce Condra, Liz McCaughley.
