Report: Arsenal one of three Premier League sides eyeing Real Madrid star Isco

by

Spanish outlet El Desmarque have claimed that Arsenal are one of three Premier League heavyweights interested in luring Real Madrid star Isco to the Premier League in the summer window.

Isco, 27, remains an important member of Zinedine Zidane’s side this season but his form has somewhat detreiorated of late. The 38-time Spain international has scored just two goals in 20 appearances, failing to provide an assist.

It is a stark contract to his previous Real Madrid form. In 297 appearances for Real in total, Isco has had a hand in 102 goals from midfield – scoring 50 himself and creating another 52. He has a contract at Real until the summer of 2022.

The report claims Real are keen to offload some players in order to fund a move for Kylian Mbappe from Paris Saint-Germain, and the French champions themselves are keen on Isco. Chelsea and Manchester City are also keen.

The Daily Mirror claimed in December that Chelsea, among other clubs, were being offered the chance to sign ex-Malaga man Isco for a fee of just £44million. His future is likely to be a hot topic come the summer.

TBR’s view – The perfect replacement for Mesut Ozil

Ozil has been used regularly by new manager Mikel Arteta, even after Unai Emery near-banished him from the senior side. However, it has to be said, that Ozil is far from his best form – and is nowhere near worth the money he earns.

If Arsenal are wise, they will sell Ozil in the summer for any price – just to get him off the wage bill. Landing Isco as his replacement for little over £40million would be stunning business.

PSG and Manchester City will play in the Champions League next season, while Chelsea have a chance. Arsenal will be lucky to get European football at all, and that factor may put Isco off a move to The Emirates.
