Tottenham fans react as club linked with signing Dean Henderson from Manchester United
by Will ButcherTottenham Hotspur are reportedly interested in signing Dean Henderson from Manchester United this summer as he continues to shine on loan at Sheffield United – and Spurs fans have reacted on Twitter.
The Daily Mail claim Spurs are one of four sides interested in landing the highly-rated 22-year-old, who has been tipped by many to replace Jordan Pickford in net ahead of England’s Euro 2020 campaign this summer.
Indeed, Henderson sits joint first at the top of the Premier League clean sheet rankings with nine – equal with Liverpool’s Alisson and Burnley’s Nick Pope. He has conceded just 21 goals in 25 Premier League outings this term.
Currently in his second season-long loan spell at Bramall Lane, Henderson is said to be eyed as David De Gea’s long-term replacement at Manchester United. Henderson has made no secret of his dream to play for boyhood club United.
However, De Gea is no longer coveted by Real Madrid given his struggling form. It could mean that Henderson goes elsewhere, with Chelsea, Sheffield United and now French champions Paris Saint-Germain interested.
Chelsea want to replace the under-fire Kepa Arrizabalaga, while the Blades are obviously keen to keep Henderson. PSG have Keylor Navas, but he is now 33 and Henderson would be good competition for the Costa Rican.
Spurs, meanwhile, are likely to be on the lookout for a long-term replacement for Hugo Lloris. The World Cup winner is far below his best, while Andre Onana has also been linked with Spurs. Tottenham fans reacted to the Henderson link on Twitter.
