Nottingham Forest are reportedly set to award a new contract to one of the club’s brightest prospects.

The Reds have agreed fresh terms with young defender Jordan Gabriel, according to a report in Football Insider.

The report adds that the 21-year-old has signed a new two-and-a-half-year deal at the City Ground, which will run until the summer of 2022.

This news comes after first-team defender Joe Worrall put pen to paper on a new deal with the Reds on Thursday, which will see him remain on Trentside until 2024.

Gabriel, who plays at right-back, is held in high regard at the Nigel Doughty academy, and is currently spending the remainder of the season on loan at League Two club Scunthorpe United.

Since his move to the Iron last month, Gabriel has made three appearances for the League Two club, playing the full 90 minutes against Northampton, Cheltenham and Cambridge.

He had been a regular for the Reds’ Under-23s and was handed his senior debut by Sabri Lamouchi earlier this season.

The defender was a late substitute in the 5-0 Carabao Cup defeat at Arsenal in September.

And most recently, he was on the bench for the senior side in the FA Cup, when they made the trip to Stamford Bridge to face Chelsea in January- a game which finished in a 2-0 defeat.

The right-back joined Forest from Southend United in 2015 and earned a professional contract the following January.
