Health Ministry warns against circulation of false news about coronavirus

 

The Ministry of Health and Sports has requested public members to believe news about coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) released by relevant ministries and government-recognized media only and not to spread rumours and false news.

According to a press release issued by the ministry, in taking disease monitoring, prevention and control measures, series of news are being released to the public members after having information links with region/state health departments and hospitals. Officials from e-Health Division of the Public Health Department met the Myanmar Facebook Team and asked it to remove any false news.

Some Facebook accounts such as Min Hein Khant’s account were spreading false news about the virus suspicious patients and infection, the ministry pointed out.

The press release said latest news and information about COVID-19 are being released through the ministry’s website (www.mohs.gov.mm), the Facebook pages of relevant departments including the Facebook page of the Ministry of Health and Sports Myanmar and Myanmar CDC Facebook page and radio, television and newspapers.
