Meghan Trainor is working with Pussycat Dolls on new songs for their comeback
by Isla WilliamsMeghan Trainor has revealed that she is writing songs with The Pussycat Dolls for their comeback – and she also has a song with the girl group on her new album.
The All About That Bass hitmaker has released her third studio album Treat Myself, her first in four years, and one track on the album, titled Genetics, features the vocals of the Dolls – Nicole Scherzinger, Ashley Roberts, Kimberley Wyatt, Carmit Bachar and Jessica Sutta.
In a chat with People, Meghan revealed how the collaboration came about, as she managed to cross paths with Nicole as the two were working on the singing competitions The Four and The Masked Singer respectively.
And she also revealed that Nicole told her that the Pussycat Dolls needed new songs for their highly anticipated reunion – so she stepped up to the challenge.
‘I sent her this song [Genetics] because she was like, “Pussycat Dolls need songs, please write some songs with me,”’ she explained.
‘I sent her this one and she was like, “This is amazing.” I asked her to feature on it and she did – and she was incredible.’
As well as the Pussycat Dolls – who will be releasing their comeback single React on 7 February – Meghan also worked with Nicki Minaj for her new album, with the rapper featuring on the track Nice To Meet Ya.
The 26-year-old revealed that it was a ‘huge deal’ to collaborate with the Anaconda hitmaker, saying: ‘Dude, in high school I used to party to her songs all the time and learned every single word. She is actually one of my favourite songwriters.’
Recalling the experience, Meghan revealed that Nicki had a lot of input into how the track sounded, with her even requesting a line change.
‘She’s smart and she was right,’ she said. ‘So I was really happy about that and she was really impressed. And then she laid down one of my favourite verses of all time by her on me song and I freaked out.’
Meghan also previously revealed that her ovaries are ‘crying and screaming’ to start a family with husband Daryl Sabara, whom she got married to in December 2018 – and she wants to five at least five kids.
‘Ugh, my ovaries are crying all the time. They’re screaming!’ she exclaimed to The Sun. ‘I cannot wait because all five of them are going to be the best children.
‘Oh yeah, I want a farm. I want all the kids in the world, especially with him [Daryl]. They’re gonna be the cutest. I mean, everyone saw how cute he was as a kid. Adorable.’
Meghan Trainor’s third studio album Treat Myself is available to download and stream now.
