Hamilton girl, 8, with Stage 4 cancer deputized by Butler County sheriff
by Lauren Pack, Mike Rutledge - Staff Writers— Naomi Short, the 8-year-old Hamilton girl who has gained national attention for her cancer fight, was deputized by Butler County Sheriff Richard Jones on Friday.
Jones made Short a “special deputy” as the latest community effort to support Short and her family. That included the sheriff’s office dressing a white horse as a unicorn to surprise her earlier this month.
Short has Stage 4 brain cancer and began chemotherapy treatments last week. Her form of the disease has no known cure, her family has said.
