Dog the Bounty Hunter's kids say Beth would be heartbroken by his proposal to her friend

Dog the Bounty Hunter, real name Duane Chapman, is reportedly in huge trouble with his children for his bizarre proposal to his late wife's friend.

Beth Chapman died of cancer just months ago, and Dog, 66, immediately got close to her pal and former assistant, Moon Angell, 53, who was even maid of honour at their wedding.

During an appearance on US talk show The Dr Oz Show, Dog proposed to Moon, and his children are reportedly heartbroken about it.

Sources close to Dog and Beth's children - Bonnie, 21, Cecily, 26, and Garry, 19, say they are furious about the proposal, and think Beth would be upset if she knew about it.

The source told TMZ Beth would not support the proposal, because she had a conversation with Moon before she died, where Moon told her she would take care of Dog.

Beth wasn't happy about Moon, who is also the ex-girlfriend of Dog's son, saying this - and neither were her kids.

MirrorOnline has reached out to a rep for Duane Chapman for comment.

Since the surprise proposal, it's been reported it wasn't real as there was no ring, it was a spur of the moment decision because Dog was emotional, sources told TMZ.

They also revealed he had been "speaking to God" in the toilet, and God told him to do it.

During the interview, he also said that he credited Moon with saving him from suicide, and he said he would have taken his own life if it hadn't been for her.

His children are reportedly also upset about him saying this, because they believe they should be enough for him to want to stay alive.

Dog's wife Beth died in June 2019 after battling throat and lung cancer for two years.

A tweet from The Dr Oz Show Twitter account showed a video clip of the interview, captioned: "A marriage proposal? After weeks of family turmoil, @DogBountyHunter and Moon Angell join me to set the record straight."

There have been reports of lots of bickering within the family and Moon acknowledges the rift in the clip, saying: "I have lots of enemies right now."

Getting emotional, Dog turns towards his new lover and says: "Moon Angell, will you marry me?"

The clip ends before her answer can be heard, but she looks shocked.

The clip also sees Dr Oz quiz Dog about how he's been coping since Beth's death, asking him: "You were going to commit suicide?"

Dog tells him: "I am a lot happier when she's around."

The episode is set to air on Monday.
