Liverpool great Jamie Carragher provides Joshua King to Manchester United verdict
Manchester United have been linked with a move for Joshua King from Bournemouth on deadline day.
by Paul Clarke, https://www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk/authors/paul-clarke/, Liam WoodLiverpool legend Jamie Carragher had made a prediction about Joshua King amid transfer links with Manchester United.
Carragher has explained that the move would make sense for United as a short-term fix amid Marcus Rashford's injury.
Having spent four years at the club between 2009 and 2013, King is already familiar with the high-profile setting at Old Trafford.
And the fact he has an existing relationship with United manager, and compatriot, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is another plus point when it comes to weighing up the move.
"He is a former Manchester United player and he knows Solskjaer," Carragher told Sky Sports.
"Gary Neville has spoken about him highly when I’ve worked with him.
"He could have done more when he was at Manchester United, but maybe Ole feels that he can get more out of him because he knows him so well.
"I don’t think he is bringing him in to be the number one striker, but it may just help them through until the end of the season or the next 18 months.
"Possibly in the summer they will go for that big name."
Having welcomed long-term target Bruno Fernandes to Old Trafford from Sporting Lisbon around 24 hours ago, the Reds continue to be linked with further signings in attacking quarters.
In the absence of top-scorer Marcus Rashford, who is expected to be missing for two months with a stress fracture, strikers King and Willian Jose have been tipped to sign before the 11pm cut off.
Born in Oslo, the Norway international – capped 46 times with 17 goals – previously spent four years at Old Trafford after he was picked up from Vålerenga.
King, 28, has scored 45 league goals in close to five years with the Cherries.
