Teenager seriously injured after being stabbed in street in Salford

A teenager has been left seriously injured in hospital after being stabbed in Salford.

The attack happened on Elizabeth Street in Pendlebury this afternoon.

Police said they were called to at around 2:30pm to a report a man had been stabbed close.

Emergency services attended and the 18-year-old was rushed to hospital.

He is currently in a serious condition but his injuries are not through to be life threatening, a Greater Manchester Police spokeswoman said.

In a statement the force said: "At around 2:30pm on Friday January 31 police were called to Elizabeth Street in Pendlebury to a report a man had been stabbed.

"An 18-year-old man has been taken to hospital in a serious condition. His injuries are not thought to be life threatening."

No further details about the incident have so far been released and it is as yet unclear if any arrests have been made.

However locals said the area near the junction with Coronation Street had been taped off with a large police presence throughout the afternoon.
