Report: Leeds director Victor Orta has compiled report on Germany international

by

The Yorkshire Evening Post have claimed that Leeds United director of football Victor Orta compiled a report on Freiburg defender Robin Koch, but a move in the January window – or any interest – has not materialised.

Koch, 23, is a two-time Germany international currently impressing at Bundesliga side Freiburg. Joining Freiburg in 2017 from Kaiserslauten, Kock has come on leaps and bounds – clocking up 74 senior appearances for the top-tier outfit.

Not only can Koch play in central defence – a position which certainly needs strengthening at Elland Road – but the 6ft 3in star can also lay in holding midfield given his ability when in possession, much like current loanee Ben White.

German outlet BuliNews claimed RB Leipzig wanted to sign Koch but he is set to remain at Freiburg this month, as the two sides differed over a fee. Leipzig offered £12.6million, while Freiburg wanted as much as £16.8million.

TBR’s view – Koch would be a sensational signing for Leeds

Yes, the report claims Orta has only compiled a dossier on Koch. The report, written by Graham Smyth at the YEP, also claims that the report on Koch is next to notes on a League Two clash between Forest Green and Mansfield.

However, the fact Orta has looked at Koch is just a sign of the ambition of Leeds. A Germany international, naturally a centre-back, with a price tag of £16.8million will excite Leeds fans. If they gain promotion, who knows?
