#Showbiz: 'Parents with special children are so blessed' - Chef Wan
by Dennis ChuaKUALA LUMPUR: Celebrity chef Datuk Redzuawan Ismail always has a heart for the less fortunate, including handicapped children.
Early today, he uploaded a photo of himself kissing the forehead of a blind schoolboy who had presented him with a token of appreciation on behalf of his secondary school.
The 62-year-old chef said that his affectionate gesture was what his late father Ismail Mohd Nor used to do whenever he commended him for a "job well done" during his teenage years.
"This boy presented me with a souvenir on behalf of his school, which I visited yesterday. After chatting with him, I learnt how courageous and determined he was to complete school despite being blind.
"My heart just went to him feeling so proud and moved. My late father usually kissed my forehead whenever he felt proud of me, and I'm now I'm doing the same to this boy whom I've much love and respect for.
"Parents with special children are so blessed. Let's all give our love and support to special children, make them happy and treat them with love and respect," said Chef Wan in his caption.
Netizens commended Chef Wan for his compassion towards the schoolboy, and said that he had "shown the way" for all Malaysians.
"Love you Datuk! My father never did this to me, however he had other ways of expressing his love. The only time we hugged was when I got married 8 years ago," said Shara.
"Syabas Datuk Chef Wan. You've shown all of us the importance of being a caring society. So sweet of you and I'm sure this boy is bursting with joy," said Zaharah.
