Transfer update: Man Utd land Bruno Fernandes but eye striker

Man City allow Angelino to leave on loan transfer to RB Leipzig

Manchester City defender Angelino only returned to the Etihad six months ago - but he is on the move again as he seals a loan transfer to RB Leipzig

Manchester City have allowed defender Angelino move to RB Leipzig on loan – just six months after paying £5.35million to bring him back to the Etihad.

The Spanish Under-21 international was brought in as cover for Benjamin Mendy and Oleksandr Zinchenko when City triggered a buy-back option in the deal that took him to PSV Eindhoven in 2018.

But Pep Guardiola's decision to play Cancelo on the left side of his defence in the midweek Carabao Cup clash with Manchester United, gave Leipzig a clear indication that he could be up for grabs.

The Bundesliga side held talks with Angelino about taking him to Germany for the rest of the season - and he has completed the switch. Leipzig have the option to make the move permanent for £25million in the summer.

The 22-year-old arrived in Manchester from Deportivo La Coruna in 2014 to join the club's academy.

He had loan spells at sister clubs New York City and Girona before making temporary moves to Mallorca and NAC Breda.

PSV signed him for an undisclosed fee, but City inserted a buy-back that enabled them to pounce last summer.

Angelino still has more than three years left on his City contract, but now has the chance to join a club setting the pace in Germany.
