Newton St Cyres pupils crowned champions at school swimming gala

On Wednesday, January 29, class four headed to Crediton Leisure Centre to take part in the CLC Primary School Swimming Gala.
A spokesperson for the school said: “It was a fierce competition as ten schools were competing.
“The first races were 25m and 50m where pupils finished in the top three. In the girls 25m freestyle, Cathy came first place, and in the girls, 50m freestyle Milly came third place. In the boys 25m freestyle, Jake came second place, and in the boys, 50m freestyle Max came second place.
“In the girls backstroke the 25m third place went to Milly and for the 50m backstroke second place was awarded to Cathy. Jake from our school came second in the 50m backstroke. In breaststroke 25m girls, Jess came third, and the 50m third went to Hannah.
“In the boys, 25m breaststroke George came first place and in the 50m Max came first place as well. In the mixed 100m freestyle relay a team of Max, Jake, Nicole and Ellie came second.
“After all the hard work we put in, we came first place overall.”
