Star Wars' Bossk Actor Alan Harris Dies at 81
by Jon ArvedonAlan Harris, who served uncredited roles in all three of the original trilogy Star Wars films, has passed away at the age of 81.
"Very sad news has just come in that Alan Harris sadly passed away this morning," Imperial Signings posted on Facebook today. "Alan was a true gent and a fan favourite. Alan had battled health issues for a number of years yet still fought through pain to attend shows and meet fans. Alan will be sadly missed by fans around the world."
Although Harris wasn't credited at the time, he appeared in A New Hope, The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi. In Episode IV, he played one of Leia Organa's Rebel escorts; in Episode V, he played the fan-favorite bounty hunter Bossk; and in Return of the Jedi, he reprised his role as Bossk and also played an Imperial stormtrooper.
Outside of Star Wars, Harris appeared in a number of pop culture staples (also in primarily uncredited roles), such as The Shining, Flash Gordon, Top Secret!, Doctor Who and the popular British TV series The Avengers.
