Taipei Game Show 2020 Called Off Following Coronavirus Outbreak
Postponed to summer
by Robert RamseyThe annual Taipei Game Show (which takes place in Taipei, Taiwan), was set to begin next week on the 6th February -- but the event has been cancelled and pushed back to an unspecified date in the summer of 2020. According to organisers, this is due to the recent outbreak of the coronavirus -- the potentially deadly illness that you've no doubt seen mentioned in the news.
With the Taipei Game Show typically welcoming more than 300,000 people from all over the world, it only makes sense to postpone the convention in order to prevent the coronavirus from spreading.
The Taipei Game Show has become an increasingly important event to companies like Sony, especially over the last few years. Much like E3 or Gamescom, it gives publishers an opportunity to present their products to both consumers and the media.
Games such as Final Fantasy VII Remake, Cyberpunk 2077, and Elden Ring were all going to be there, but some plans will no doubt change now that the show has been delayed.
