Swansea City defender Declan John is set to join Sunderland on loan for the rest of the season.

The Welshman has featured just five times in all competitions for the Swans so far this term.

His current deal doesn't expire until June 2021, although with the 24-year-old struggling to get game time at the Liberty Stadium, Steve Cooper was willing to let the versatile left-back move on.

And he is expected to complete a temporary switch to the Stadium of Light on transfer deadline day.

Meanwhile, Cian Harries has sealed a permanent move to Bristol Rovers.

The centre-back made just eight appearances during his loan spell with Dutch side Fortuna Sittard.

He was recalled by the Swans and immediately completed a switch to The Memorial Stadium.

Harries leaves Swansea having played six matches for the first team, all of which came under Graham Potter during the 2018/19 season.

Elsewhere, Borja Baston has been linked with a move to Leganes.

Spanish journalist Javier Martin claims the Swansea striker has been offered to the La Liga club as a potential back-up plan if they fail to land their preferred targets.

At the time of writing, it's understood that Swansea have received no offers for the forward.

His contract with the club expires in the summer.
