THE January transfer deadline is TONIGHT with many potential deals still to be done.

Arsenal have signed Cedric Soares from Southampton on a season-long loan deal.

Meanwhile, Olivier Giroud is expected to leave the Blues, and Joshua King is the subject of a late bid to return to Manchester United.

And Sheffield United completed the signing of Richairo Zivkovic.

Chelsea boss Frank Lampard doesn't expect there to be any incoming signings before the deadline.

The Spaniard has made six appearances for City in the League this season and could be on his way to help the Bundesliga leaders. Leipzig are just one point above current champions Bayern Munich. City boss Pep Guardiola insisted there would be no incoming signings before the deadline.

Cavani has been linked with moves to Chelsea and Manchester United but the French club were unable to agree a deal with any club. The Uruguayan has made his intention of leaving clear and is out of contract at the end of the season. Cavani had looked set to secure a move to Atletico Madrid but the 32-year-old will be staying in Paris until the end of the season.

Maddison has scored 62 goals and made 86 assists in 249 appearances in all competitions as a Posh player. The 26-year-old is a replacement for Jarrod Bowen who is set to join West Ham. Speaking to the club upon his arrival, Maddison said: “It’s been an eventful 17 or so hours but everything has come together quite nicely. “I’m happy to have joined such a big club and I’m just excited to get going now.”
