Bridegroom treks 4 km with his baraat after heavy snowfall
by TIMESOFINDIA.COMBelieve it or not, a bridegroom from Uttarakhand has done the unbelievable. In an age where the bridegroom is being led to his marriage ceremony in a ghodi or white horse in an Indian tradition, we came across the video of a groom in Uttarakhand who braved the bone-chilling cold and trekked four kms through the snow-clad road to reach his wedding venue.
The incident reportedly took place on January 29 in a small village of Pana located in Chamoli district of Uttarakhand. After roads were blocked due to heavy snowfall, vehicular traffic on multiple roads in the state came to a halt. The groom was headed to the bride’s house living in Bijra village in Chamoli district for his marriage ceremony. But the harsh weather and heavy snowfall had made it impossible for the baraatis to drive to the location. The groom, therefore, had no other choice but to trek in the mountains along with the entire baaratis to reach the bride's home for his wedding ceremony.
The video which was shared on social media by ANI shows that even after a heavy snowfall, the groom is dressed in a traditional sherwani and pagri, holding an umbrella and sporting a wide smile on his face, while happily marching across the thick sheets of snow along with a long queue of the ceremony guests.
Visuals show the baraat accompanying the groom beating drums and playing with snow, creating a celebratory atmosphere. The heavy snowfall failed to play as a spoilsport for the dolled-up family who undertook a long unique marriage procession, with children enjoying the snow. The video footage also shows the blushing bride meeting the wedding procession midway. Later the couple was seen walking towards the ceremony venue.
The photos of the groom and his baraat shared on Twitter by ANI on Wednesday, have created a buzz on social media and much oomph among the new generation. The pictures which are doing the rounds on the microblogging platform have garnered over 8,000 likes. Several netizens appreciated the groom’s commitment by dropping in their comments on twitter.
Multiple comments kept pouring in with someone addressing the groom as romantic, a keeper also wishing him good luck. One twitter user even conferred him with “the best groom award”.
"This Prince Charming is certainly writing a new definition of love with a smile," a Twitter user wrote. "If there is a will there's a wife," tweeted another user.
