Super Bowl FanDuel Picks: NFL DFS advice for Chiefs vs. 49ers
by Matt LutovskyWhen making our picks for DraftKings Showdown DFS contests, we went with a 49ers-heavy build. With our FanDuel picks, we're going with a Chiefs-heavy lineup. Why? Because the 49ers-Chiefs Super Bowl 54 matchup is that close. You can make a strong case for either team to win and produce yards/points, and there aren't many "obvious" plays based on the numbers.
Patrick Mahomes is always an "obvious" play because he's Patrick Mahomes, and that's who we chose as our MVP. Raheem Mostert and George Kittle also stand out based on the stats, but we're fading the more expensive of the two. After that, we're filling in with Mahomes' highest-upside targets, including one boom-or-bust sleeper that we're more or less forced to play because of budget constrictions.

Super Bowl FanDuel Picks: Chiefs vs. 49ers NFL DFS advice
MVP (1.5x points): QB Patrick Mahomes, Chiefs ($16,000)
If you're going with a Chiefs-heavy build, it only makes sense to have Mahomes in the MVP slot. He's likely going to be involved in the vast majority of Kansas City touchdowns, and he has more potential for a monster performance than anyone on the field. The 49ers have had some struggles against mobile QBs this year (Kyler Murray, Russell Wilson, Lamar Jackson), and Mahomes has shown he can pick up chunks of yards with his legs -- in addition to having the most arm talent in the league.
FLEX: WR Tyreek Hill, Chiefs ($12,000)
Hill is that next-level kind of athlete who can give any defense problems. Despite scoring two TDs in the AFC Championship game, he hasn't had a huge performance yardage-wise since Week 10. He's overdue for a big game, and his floor is also fairly high because of his consistent targets and big-play potential.
EARLY 2020 FANTASY RANKINGS:
Quarterback | Running back | Wide receiver | Tight end | D/ST | Kicker
FLEX: RB Damien Williams, Chiefs ($14,000)
The 49ers shut down Dalvin Cook and allowed some late TDs to Aaron Jones, so this isn't exactly a favorable matchup for Williams, but he's arguably Kansas City's go-to playoff producer. In four postseason games over the past two seasons, Williams has averaged 20.3 touches and101.8 total yards while scoring eight total touchdowns. One way or another, he's produced, and if nothing else, he should be active in the receiving game.
FLEX: TE George Kittle, 49ers ($11,500)
Kittle has been quiet in the postseason, at least in terms of receiving numbers, but this matchup is made for him to go off. Kansas City tied for the third-most receptions allowed to tight ends during the regular season, and it's allowed a TE touchdown in each of its first two playoff games. Like Hill, Kittle is overdue for a big game, and regardless of who you think will win, he's worth having in your lineup.
FLEX: WR Mecole Hardman, Chiefs ($6,000)
Given our first four picks, we didn't have many choices for our last FLEX spot. It came down to Demarcus Robinson or Hardman (or Kyle Juszczyk, if we really wanted to get cute), and we decided to go with the speedier Hardman, who's slightly more likely to break a big play. He also returns kicks, which gives him more more chances for big plays.
