- Eric Abidal, Barca's sporting director, was said to have broken the bad news via a brutal phone call

Cedric Bakambu's dream of joining Barcelona has been hit by a brutal blow after Spanish giants pulled the plug-- a move that made the former Villareal man make fun of his own predicament on the Transfermarket.

Barcelona had early made a loan bid for the 28-year-old Beijing Guoan forward and he was on the plane heading from China to Spain for medical when the club made a sudden U-turn.

Eric Abidal, Barca's sporting director, was said to have broken the bad news via a brutal phone call, ending the speculation surrounding the Congolese's link with a sensational return to Spain on transfer deadline day.

'Thank God for everything. See you another time @AntoGriezmann,'' Bakambu tweeted immediately the deal was thwarted.

''No matter what happens we trust the process. Yo @Transfermarket, change my transfer history to almost Barcelona,'' the Congolese made a light turn of the disappointment.

Bakambu has been in the Far East for two seasons and was looking destined for a loan move to Barcelona as Quique Setien hoped to sign the forward to bolster his squad.

He was almost close to Barcelona when Barcelona told him they had moved on to other targets.

Bakambu then needed to fly back to China where the Chinese Super League was already suspended due to the outbreak of Corona Virus.

He will have to wait for another season should Barcelona make a move for the 28-year-old star in the coming transfer market.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng earlier reported that Francisco Trincao has completed a move to reigning Spanish champions Barcelona from Portuguese club FC Braga where he has been impressive this season.

Barcelona chiefs and Braga agreed on a deal of €31m for the transfer move, but the Catalan giants will have to wait until the end of the season before Trincao joins them.

The two clubs agreed to a five-year deal for the 20-year-old Portuguese forward in which Barcelona slapped massive €500m transfer clause on him.
