Unai Emery: Spaniard manager claims Arsenal fans responsible for his sacking
- Unai Emery has blamed his sacking on the pressure from Arsenal fans
- The Spaniard was sacked following a torrid run in the Premier League
- Emery also claimed his successor is getting a soft landing from the same fans responsible for his sacking
Former Arsenal manager, Unai Emery, has aimed a subtle jibe at the club following what he described as hostile exit given to him by the club fans.
The Spaniard was given a marching order after a torrid Premier League run less than twenty months he took over as manager.
He was replaced with Mikel Arteta, though Gunners are still on the 10th spot on the Premier League log despite a show of promises from the club legend.
Swinging the pendulum back on his time with the London side, Emery said he did not enjoy a soft landing from the club's fans before he was thrown out.
The Spaniard blamed his sacking on focus and pressure from fans, while also admitting there was a series crisis within the team.
''There were several problems: four captains; the Özil-Kolasinac case; Pépé’s signing, who needs time since he came from France… We didn’t play well, that’s for sure,'' Emery recalled.
''That brought us bad results, there was no improvement, the fans focused on me and they threw me out. But I keep the positive things, there were many.''
Speaking about the his transition from the sacking, the former PSG manager described the process as natural.
He, however, posited that his successor is enjoying a beautiful bond with Arsenal fans because of his affiliation with the club,
Emery also added that there is a little difference between his management of the team and that of his successor.
“Mikel has a lot of experience as a footballer and has worked alongside Pep, who is top.
