Machine gun and five handguns seized by gardai during raid in Co Dublin

Five handguns and a machine gun were seized by gardai in a raid in Co Dublin.

The searches were carried out at a site on the Naas Road in Rathcoole on Friday morning.

During the raid officers from Blanchardstown Detective Unit found six firearms concealed close to a nearby service station.

Gardai revealed that five of these were handguns, and one was a machine gun.

A garda spokesman said: "A preliminary technical examination of the firearms has been carried out and further tests are awaited.

"No arrests have been made and investigations are ongoing."
