Charity Concert with Greek mezzo soprano Betty Harlafti in Munich, Germany

Greek mezzo soprano Betty Harlafti, who is known as “the voice of Mikis Theodorakis from the younger generation of performers,” will take the stage in Munich, Germany on Saturday 1st February 2020 for a great cause, performing a special recital dedicated to children who are making their own fight against cancer.

Betty Harlafti is a Greek contemporary singer, a classically trained mezzo soprano and performs a diverse, crossover repertoire in several languages.

Accompanying her on stage is the acclaimed pianist and close associate of Mikis Theodorakis, Yannis Belonis

“Betty Harlafti in the World of Mikis Theodorakis” is the title of the album recently released by the singer, in collaboration with the great composer and the Greek National Radio Symphony Orchestra (ERT), as well as the title of the concert at Künstlerhaus of Munich that coincides with the 95th anniversary celebration of the great Greek composer.

She was invited by the Greek-Bavarian community to perform songs from selected cycles in various languages, songs from her new album, as well as excerpts from the oratorios Canto General and Axion Esti.

Proceeds from the concert will be donated to the Hauner Foundation, in support of Dr. von Hauner Children’s Hospital.

The concert is a part of a series of performances by Betty Harlafti abroad, all of them of special meaning, such as the 3 sold out concerts in Brussels, where she performed the magnificent Canto General by Neruda-Theodorakis, invited to commemorate the 70th Anniversary from the Declaration of Human Rights, the celebration concert of Greece’s National Day on March 25, 2019 at the Ankara Concert Hall, the 95th birthday celebration of the famous Greek composer Mikis Theodorakis in Cologne, Germany etc.

She has performed at some of the greatest theatres in Greece and has appeared in concert with Maria Farantouri and Mario Frangoulis, just to name two artists.  She has also performed in festivals, live television & radio broadcasts as well as with El Sistema Greece, the Athens Municipality Symphony Orchestra, the ERT Symphony Orchestra, the “Mikis Theodorakis” Orchestra ect.
