Netflix, Adam Sandler Agree to New 4-Picture Deal

Deadline reports Sandler is expanding their existing deal with another four films. They originally partnered in 2015, with Sandler releasing Ridiculous 6 for the streaming service. Since then, he has produced and starred in movies like The Do-Over, Sandy Wexler, Father of the Year, The Week Of and Murder Mystery. In fact, according to Netflix, Murder Mystery was its most popular title in 2019.
“Whether you know him as Sandman, the Water Boy, Billy Madison, Happy Gilmore, Nick Spitz or simply Adam, one thing is clear: our members can’t get enough of him,” Netflix Chief Content Officer Ted Sarandos said in a statement. “They love his stories and his humor, as we saw with Murder Mystery. So I could not be more excited to extend our partnership with Adam and the Happy Madison team and deliver more laughs around the world.”

Prior to this new deal, Sandler had a few other projects in the works for the streaming service, including The Wrong Missy, an untitled animated feature film and Hubie Halloween with Kevin James, Julie Bowen, Ray Liotta, Maya Rudolph, Rob Schneider, Kenan Thompson, Steve Buscemi, Michael Chiklis, Tim Meadows, Noah Schnapp, Paris Berelc, China Anne McClain and Shaquille O’Neal. He will add to that list with as-yet unannounced projects that are part of his deal extension with Netflix.
Uncut Gems, Sandler's latest film with A24, was directed by Josh and Benny Safdie and also stars Adam Sandler, Lakeith Stanfield, Julia Fox, Kevin Garnett, Idina Menzel and Eric Bogosian. It is in theaters now.
