MG Hector BS6 petrol priced from Rs 12.74 lakh

BS6-compliant petrol MG Hector sees no change in power output; prices hiked by Rs 26,000 across all petrol variants.

MG Motor India has introduced the BS6-compliant Hector petrol in India, with prices starting at Rs 12.74 lakh for the entry level Style trim and going up to Rs 17.44 lakh for the fully-loaded Sharp petrol-DCT. The quantum of hike in prices due to the move to BS6 is about Rs 26,000 across all variants.

The prices of the BS6-compliant MG Hector petrol are as follows:

The 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine powering the petrol Hector continues to develop an identical 143hp and 250Nm of torque, and at the same RPMs as before. The motor is paired with either with a 6-speed manual or a DCT gearbox in standard guise, with the 48V mild-hybrid equipped unit offered solely with the former.

The diesel Hector, for now, remains a BS4-compliant model, with the switch to BS6 set to happen closer to the implementation date of April 1, 2020.

There are no changes to the Hector’s equipment list with the switch to BS6. MG’s midsized SUV is the second petrol SUV in the segment to meet the upcoming emission norms, with Kia having launched the Seltos as a BS6-compliant SUV – petrol and diesel – in August last year. The Hector sits in a heavily contested segment against the Kia Seltos, Hyundai Creta, Tata Harrier, Nissan Kicks and Renault Captur.
