What royal events could feature in The Crown's upcoming series?
The Crown is stepping into the modern era with its fifth and final series.
The lavish Netflix drama’s creator Peter Morgan has said its denouement will take “The Crown into the 21st century”.
Morgan’s comments suggest the show will cover the aftermath of Diana, Princess of Wales’ death and her sons’ early years.
Here are some the events The Crown could explore.
Duke of Sussex, the party prince
Harry enjoyed his fair share of bad behaviour during school and university.
He brawled with a paparazzi photographer, dabbled with cannabis, sparked worldwide outrage by dressing up as a Nazi and stripped off in Las Vegas during a racy game of billiards.
Chelsy Davy
Harry’s relationship with Chelsy Davy could feature.
Zimbabwean-born Davy spent around six years dating Harry and many believed she would become a royal bride.
They coped with a long-distance relationship while the duke was training in the Army and overseas, and while Chelsy was at university in South Africa.
The pair are believed to have split in early 2009.
Romance between William and Kate
The pair met at St Andrews University in Fife, Scotland, and became flatmates.
They dated for more than eight years before finally marrying in the grand surrounds of Westminster Abbey in central London in front of 1,900 guests, watched by a global television audience of millions.
The rehabilitation of the Duchess of Cornwall
Just before midnight on January 28 1999, the Prince of Wales and his long-term love stepped out in public for the first time as a couple.
They were photographed in front of London’s Ritz Hotel as they left a 50th birthday party for Camilla’s sister, Annabel Elliot.
Dubbed Operation Ritz, the event was the beginning of Camilla’s transformation from “the other woman” to royal bride.
The pair were married in 2005.
The Queen and Tony Blair
The Queen’s relationship with Tony Blair during his time as Prime Minister spawned a number of speculative books and films, including a Michael Sheen-starring film series by Morgan.
Their discussions could be further explored in The Crown.
The Queen Mother’s death
In 2002, the Queen Mother died in her sleep at the Royal Lodge aged 101 after suffering a four-month cold.
The Queen, who was at her bedside when she died, was left as the family’s main matriarch.
The same year the Queen celebrated her Golden Jubilee – marking the 50th anniversary of her accession to the throne.
