Report: Sampdoria in talks with Juan Foyth as Tottenham reportedly agree loan deal

Tottenham have reportedly agreed to loan out their defender Juan Foyth to Italian top-flight club Sampdoria.

According to Il Secolo XIX, Spurs have reached an agreement with the Serie A side to loan them the 22-year-old for the rest of the season.

It is understood that the centre-back is now in discussions about a potential switch to Italy, but the green light has been given by the two clubs.

Foyth was sidelined in the opening months of the season through injury, but since returning near the end of September he’s not had too many opportunities.

The Argentina international has made just seven appearances across all competitions this campaign and hasn’t quite done enough to impress manager Jose Mourinho.

He’s been exposed to some first-team action during two-and-a-half years at the North London club since joining for £8million (BBC), but is yet to establish himself as a regular.

TBR’s View:

Foyth should seize the opportunity to move out on loan on January’s deadline day with both hands, as it would be massive development.

The South American is a talented defender that is great on the ball and there should be a long-term future for him at Spurs.

But there are some experienced heads around him in the squad and he just needs regular exposure to first-team minutes to kick on.

He has a style that should see him thrive in Serie A and it should be a no-brainer for him to agree personal terms.
