No cases of coronavirus in Oman: Ministry of Health

Muscat: The Ministry of Health has clarified about an audio clip doing the rounds that claims to be the first case of coronavirus in the country.

However, MOH has clarified that there are no cases of coronavirus being reported in Oman and “the audio clip is old” and was released after the Middle East Respiratory Syndrome (MERS) case was registered few years ago. MOH has urged citizens and residents to follow the official channels of the Ministry before publishing any information regarding the new coronavirus.

Ministry also reiterated the statement issued by the Public Prosecution which called-on citizens and residents to avoid sending or forwarding any false informations that could harm the public. “Spreading false information on social media is a crime which could get a jail term of three-years,” the statement added.
