Bruno Fernandes trains with his new Man Utd teammates for the first time
by Metro Sport ReporterBruno Fernandes trained with his new Manchester United teammates for the first time on Friday ahead of his potential debut against Wolves.
After months of intense negotiations, the Portugal international midfielder finally completed his move to Old Trafford on Thursday and could immediately be pitched into action by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
Speaking at his pre-match press conference, Solskjaer said: ‘He’s fit enough to play and he will be involved, be in the squad.
‘Let’s get training out of the way today. He has had few hectic days, and even his daughter’s birthday yesterday. I don’t know how much he’ll be involved, but in squad.’
United have relied heavily on the likes of Nemanja Matic, Fred and Andreas Pereira in recent weeks with Paul Pogba and Scott McTominay unavailable for the foreseeable future.
Solskjaer has been forced to bide his time and wait for Fernandes’ arrival but he is delighted to now be able to call upon a player who can add some much needed creativity to United’s engine room.
‘You know, it is about timing, priorities, and also valuation, money and you have a club that owns him, and you can see how much he means to him,’ said Solskjaer when asked why the deal took so long to finalise.
‘They wanted to keep him, we are just happy to get it over the line. We have followed him for years. he has grown gradually for years, more and more, mature.
‘Assured performances, a great leader of his team and even with all speculation around, every club in Europe has been linked with him, he stayed focused and played fantastic football. When you get to see him he is such a fantastic human being.’
