Bradley Beal’s fiancée rails against NBA after All-Star snub
by Justin TerranovaBradley Beal did not take his All-Star snub well, nor did his new fiancee.
Kamiah Adams joined the Wizards postgame show and railed against the NBA’s All-Star selection system.
“It’s politics and it’s a joke. The NBA is becoming laughable in my honest opinion,” Adams said, according to The Athletic.
The All-Star reserves were announced on Thursday with the 76ers’ Ben Simmons and Raptors’ Kyle Lowry getting the Eastern Conference’s reserve spots, as decided by the league’s coaches. Beal, who averages 28.7 points per game, along with 4.5 rebounds and 6.4. assists, said he was a “little pissed” over the “disrespectful” decision after leading the Wizards to a 121-107 win over the Hornets.
“It’s a popularity contest. It’s about who has the most followers on Instagram, who has the most likes, and it’s a joke to me because my thing is you can’t name five people that were selected for reserves on either the East or the West who are outplaying Bradley right now,” said Adams, who got engaged to the 26-year-old Beal last week.
The NBA All-Star starters are decided by a fan vote, media vote and a player vote. Beal finished second in the votes among his fellow players, only behind Walker, but lagged in the fan and media voting. Adams was asked specifically about the Hawks’ Trae Young, who is a starter in the game, getting a spot.
“It’s a joke to me. Not taking away from his game… He’s playing cherry-picking basketball,” Adams said.
Beal has been an All-Star the past two seasons and the Wizards are 16-31 this season.
