THE WITCHER: NIGHTMARE OF THE WOLF Animated Film Is a Prequel That Will Focus on Geralt's Teacher

by

Not much information was given when Netflix announced its animated film The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf. All we had to go off of was the brief logline, which read, "The world of The Witcher expands in this anime film that explores a powerful new threat facing the Continent.”

We now have some new details to share with you regarding the project, which ties into the live-action series. It’s a prequel story that is set “long before” the events of Season 1, and the series will focus Geralt’s teacher Vesemir.

This new information was revealed on the official Netflix page for The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf. It says, “Long before mentoring Geralt, Vesemir begins his own journey as a witcher after the mysterious Deglan claims him through the Law of Surprise.”

It’ll be interesting and fun to see this film dive deeper into the lore of the world that The Witcher is set in and offer a history on some of the characters.

Lauren S. Hissrich, showrunner of the live-action series, is also helping develop the film, and Beau DeMayo, who wrote an episode of the live-action series, is also on board to work on the project.
