New boy Ianis Hagi was full of pride after sealing his move to Rangers as he revealed his dad Gheorghe told him about the electric atmosphere at Ibrox.

Steven Gerrard snapped up the Genk playmaker on loan until the end of the season with an exclusive option to buy the Romanian youngster in the summer.

Gheorghe, who starred for Barcelona and Real Madrid, played on Rangers' home turf when he played for Steaua Bucharest in the late 1980s.

And Hagi admitted his father spoke to him about what it was like to play at Ibrox before he made the move to Rangers official.

He said: "One thing for sure is that I am proud to wear this name.

"It's a pressure I was born with so I've got used to it and I use it as a motivation to get better.

"It's a great honour to be here at this club with these amazing fans and huge history.

"I couldn't decline the opportunity to work with the coach and this amazing team.

"My father told me about the games he played at Ibrox and many things about this club. I already knew a couple of them. I know what kind of club I've joined and I'm really proud to be here."
